KIVI Today’s 6 Adding Two Newscasts Beginning September 21

Boise, Idaho — Treasure Valley viewers will have an hour of additional news coverage beginning Monday, September 21 when KIVI-TV Today’s 6 News and KNIN-TV K9, the local CW affiliate, each launch new half-hour newscasts.

On KIVI-TV, Today’s 6 News will add a half-hour of news programming at 4 p.m. Anchored by Don Nelson, and featuring reports from Michelle Edmonds and weather updates from Chief Meteorologist Scott Dorval, the 4 p.m. newscast will highlight breaking national and local news and the latest updates from the world of celebrity entertainment. With it the station will produce four and a half hours of news coverage each weekday.

On KNIN-TV, Today’s Channel 6 at 9 on KNIN will bring an additional half-hour of news coverage to area viewers with the first-ever local newscast on the local CW affiliate station. It will be anchored by Nelson and Edmonds with weather forecasts from Dorval.

In making the announcement, News Director Robby Messer said, “The 4 p.m. newscast on KIVI will give viewers a jump start on their evening news with a format that is higher energy and more fast paced. It will be an exciting half-hour filled with a variety of stories.

“The 9:00 hour is an important hour in our viewing market,” he added. “With Today’s Channel 6 at 9 on KNIN, we’ll be able to bring local and national news coverage to an entirely new audience and provide an important programming alternative to viewers throughout the Treasure Valley.”

KIVI-TV Today’s 6 and KNIN-TV are owned by Journal Broadcast Group.
