KIVI Today’s 6 Hires New Sports Director and Morning Meteorologist

Boise, Idaho — Two new faces have joined the news team at KIVI Today’s 6 (KIVI-TV).

Amanda Maynard was hired as the station’s new sports director, making her the only female sports talent, much less female sports director, in the market. Her first day on air was Monday, March 8.

Kyle Gravlin has been hired as the station’s new morning meteorologist. His first day with the station will be March 15.

Maynard comes to KIVI after two and a half years as the sports director at KBZK/ KXLF in the Butte-Bozeman market. During her tenure in Montana, she anchored the weekday newscasts and hosted “Montana State University’s Bobcat Sports Report,” a Sunday night coaches show. She earned a degree in broadcast journalism and film from the University of Southern California, where she played on the school’s women’s lacrosse team.

“I’m thrilled to cover what should be an exciting year for the Blue and Orange as well as all the other sports across the Treasure Valley,” Maynard said.

Gravlin comes to KIVI from Casper, Wyo., where he was the chief meteorologist at KTWO-TV. A graduate of the University at Albany where he earned a bachelor’s degree in atmospheric science, he will be seen weekdays from 5-7 a.m. as part of the 6 Morning News Team.

“I think my time spent at KTWO in Wyoming has fully prepared me for my new position here at Today’s 6, and I am really eager to get started,” Gravlin said. “Michelle (Stark) and Lincoln (Graves) are always having a great time in the mornings, and I feel privileged that I get to be a part of that.”

“We’re so excited to have Amanda and Kyle join our team and are looking forward to adding their energy and fresh ideas to our Today’s 6 sports and weather coverage,” said News Director Robby Messer.

KIVI-TV Today’s 6 is one of three television stations and four radio stations in Idaho owned by Journal Broadcast Group.
