Palm Desert, Calif. – Craig Marrs has been named Vice President and General Manger of KMIR-TV and KPSE-LP, Palm Desert, Calif. The announcement was made today by Jim Prather, executive vice president of television and radio operations at the Journal Broadcast Group.
“Craig is the kind of leader we need in the Coachella Valley. He’s passionate about the media business, arrives with a wealth of experience in our business and is focused on great content and customer service,” Prather said in making the announcement.
Marrs joins Journal Broadcast Group’s Palm Springs market operations after serving as General Manager of Lockwood Broadcast stations KTEN-TV (NBC), The CW Texoma and ABC Texoma located in Sherman/Denison, Tex. and Ada/Ardmore, Okla. Marrs had been the market manager there since 2009.

Prior to his current position, Marrs was the President and General Manager of WHNT-TV, Huntsville, Ala., and Vice President and Station Manager of KRON-TV, San Francisco. In addition, he was the Founder, President and General Manager of Northwest Cable News, Seattle. Marrs also held the job of Vice President of Affiliate Relations for Zatso Internet Broadcasting and has been a consultant for leading broadcast industry companies such as Frank Magid and Associates.
Marrs holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond Oklahoma and attended the Northwestern University School of Broadcast Management, Chicago.
Marrs will begin his new position in March.
