Milwaukee, Wis. — Newsradio 620 WTMJ (WTMJ-AM) has won four regional Edward R. Murrow awards, more than any other large market radio station in the four-state region.
The Murrows were awarded to Newsradio 620 WTMJ in the following categories:
• Continuing Coverage, for the Steven Avery trial.
• Investigative Reporting, “Unlawful Restraint?”, Dan O’Donnell’s investigation of restraining devices used in a special education classroom in Racine.
• Newscast, “Wisconsin’s Morning News.”
• Sports Reporting, “The [New] Old Ballgame,” Dan O’Donnell’s story about the Cleveland Indians drawing a crowd of 20,000 to a home game that was moved to Milwaukee at the last minute.
The awards will be entered into the national competition, which will be judged in June.
The Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) has honored outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971.
